It has been reported on Bloomberg news site that Bookmakers such as William Hill plc, Party Gaming and 888 Holdings all expect their online bingo revenues to increase greatly as the game becomes bigger business throughout both the UK and Europe as a whole.
According to research company H2 Gambling Capital whose clients include Party Gaming, they expect online bingo to grow by more than 20% both this year and the next. These figures are supported by popular bookmaker Ladbrokes whose land based bookies saw a 7.4% fall in profit compared to a 30% rise in their online bingo operation.
In addition to this uplifting news for online bingo, 888 Chief Executive Office was quoted as expecting online bingo to do its company much justice, generating revenue of up to $100m in just a few years, up from the current $40m that it makes today.
On the other foot though is the poor results expected for land based bingo clubs in the UK which looks set to see a 17% fall in revenue, a sign that players are becoming more savvy and taking to the internet, mixed with other issues the land based clubs have been suffering against such as the smoking ban and unfair taxation.
With such rewards to be made, more online bingo sites are expected to launch with greater choice for the consumer. This year alone there have been too many bingo sites to list and there is a growing tendency to offer dedicate free bingo sites, something that would not have been considered a good move not so long ago. This reiterates that the competition to attract online bingo players is fierce as big companies look at ways of attracting bingo players.
While 1 in 5 bingo players are male, these figures show just how popular casual gaming is amongst the female market. Expect bigger sites, more choice, and more fun for bingo players in the coming years.
