Some talk has been speculating over a relativly new bingo operator called Minxy Bingo. Now the launch of a new bingo operator would not normally cause as much interest, but the fact that Minxy Bingo is owened by Gala (Alderney) but operated by Virtue Fusion is causing some mixed messages.
Gala (Alderney) Limited is a subsidiary of Gala Coral Group Limited who are behind Gala Bingo. Gala Bingo are perhaps the leaders in bingo, both landbased bingo and online bingo. Gala Bingo have operated their own prorietry bingo software since their merger with Coral Eurobet in late 2005. Galas propriety bingo software is still considered one of the most sophosticated bingo games on the internet. Gala Bingo also operate many of their own games that accompany the Gala Bingo site, although recently they have started to include games developed by 3rd parties, these games were manly included as the 3rd party operators owned exlusive rights to the games which Gala could not obtain (Monopoly, Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal, etc.).
Virtue Fusion on the other hand is a provider of bingo software (a company which allows sites to use it's software and games for a share of the revenue). Virtue Fusion are in fact one of the biggest providers of bingo software with Ladbrokes Bingo, William Hill Bingo, Mecca Bingo, Sky Bingo, and Crown Bingo amoungst it's clients.
The fact that Gala (Alderney) Limited have now setup a new seperate site called Minxy Bingo perhaphs confirms suggestions that they are perhaps experimenting with the idea of moving over to a 3rd party for their bingo platform.
It has been previously reported that the Gala Coral Group were facing finaincal difficulties, with high levels of debts and a struggling land based buisness which had been hit hard by the smoking ban (driving customers away or outside during moments they could be profiting from them) and the new gaming act (limiting the types of key gaming machines allowed).
While the choice of online bingo operators has grown substantially, Gala Bingos share of the online bingo market has shrunk. In an ever increasingly competitive bingo market, it may well be putting into question Gala Bingos ability to fund a priroitery bingo operation at a cost of millions per year when they could simply use a 3rd party operator such as virtue fusion for a small percentage of their overall profit.
Are Gala doubting the viability of their own ability to maintain a leading bingo experience? I'm sure all will become clear in the not too distant future as more information on this latest development come to light.
